NH Green Jazz Band is a one hour band class for beginning or new to jazz players with some instrumental experience. Band members will focus on the basics of jazz music, including Swing, Rock and Latin genres.

A one time purchase of the method book, “Standard of Excellence Jazz Ensemble Method” by Dean Sorenson & Bruce Pearson for your instrument is required ($15), along with a music stand and a fun attitude.

Band members can expect to perform in Lowery Hall or Kilbourn Hall each semester. Contact Don Sherman for more information.

This is a yearlong course divided into two semesters. Spring semester will be automatically re-registered unless written notification is received by December 1.

Usual instruments in a jazz band are Trumpets, Trombones, Alto Sax, Tenor Sax, Baritone Sax,  Drum set, Bass, Guitar, aux. percussion, and Piano.  Less common but also allowed are Baritone horn, Tuba, Clarinet, Flute and French horn.
