Cheryl Guth retired in 2017 after a 38 year career teaching strings and orchestra in Pennsylvania and New York. She worked with students in elementary through high school. For the last 29 years of her career, she taught in the Brighton Central School District where she taught lessons on all string instruments and conducted orchestras at the elementary and high school. The high school ensembles included three orchestras and many chamber groups.
She received the Rochester Philharmonic Music Educator Award in 2006.
Since retiring, she has been teaching Music Education courses at Roberts Wesleyan and Nazareth Colleges. She conducted the Monroe All County Elementary Orchestra in March 2019. In September 2019, she began as the orchestra conductor for the New Horizons Green Strings orchestra.
Cheryl has a B.S. in Music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an M.A. in Mu- sic performance from the same university. She has performed with the Roberts Wesleyan Orchestra and the Greater Rochester Women’s Philharmonic.
