Richard Li is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music with a Bachelors of Music in Clarinet Performance where he studied with Kenneth Grant, Principal Clarinet of the Rochester Philharmonic. Prior to Rochester, he performed in Chicago while studying with John Bruce Yeh, Assistant Principal Clarinet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. As a performer, Richard has concertized in numerous internationally renowned venues including Carnegie Hall, Chicago Symphony Center, Leipzig Gewandhaus, Palace of Arts in Budapest, Haydnsaal at Esterházy Palace, and both Dvorak Hall and Smetana Hall in Prague. Outside of performing, Richard is equally dedicated to music education and outreach. He actively maintains a private studio and enjoys sharing his love and knowledge of music with students of all ages. As a member of the Eastman Clarinet Duo, Richard has given around one hundred performances in the greater Rochester, NY and Sarasota, FL areas, with innovative outreach programs focusing on creating a more intimate and interactive concert experience.
