The Birthplace of New Horizons. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Roy Ernst, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY
I play the tuba in the NH Concert Band, Brasso Profundo, Vintage Jazz and the Brass Choir.
I am a native of Fairport. I received my undergraduate degree from Cornell University.
I have a Masters in Physics Education from SUNY Geneseo and taught physics at Brighton High School for 32 years. I was also an adjunct physics faculty member at SUNY Geneseo and SUNY Brockport.
My daughter, Kim, lives in Jackson, WY and runs Yoga Today, a company which produces on-line yoga classes (link above). My son, Zach, received his doctoral degree in disaster management at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, NZ. He now resides in Washington, DC. My wife, Christine, is the CEO of Complemar Partners.
My hobbies are swimming, golf, skiing (snow and water), kayaking and canoeing. My son and I traveled to St. Andrews, Scotland over Thanksgiving of 2011.

My visit to the Nassau (County) Community Band in Yulee, Florida, April 4, 2013. Their director is Amy Scott. I had a great time. I hope to be a member when we start spending more time in Amelia Island. I met 2 charter members of Rochester New Horizons, Kate and Don Wiest. Don was one of the musicians who came to Roy's first rehearsal in 1991.
