Sue Wolfe: Trombone and Tuba
I am a mid-westerner–graduated from the University of Illinois with BS and MEd. I taught elementary school in Illinois, Texas, Oklahoma, #25 in Rochester, and West Irondequoit, finishing my teaching career teaching preschool for 20 years in Webster and Rochester.
Chick and I were married in 1955, and we love to hike in the mountains and square dance. He always talked about how much musical groups had meant to him, so I started my musical life with handbells at our church. Upon retirement, I read about New Horizons, and went to a meeting with Roy Ernst and Ed Misma in 1995. I came home and told Chick “I’m going to play the tuba!” (Why? Because we had an old one in the attic.) A couple of years ago I decided to switch to a lighter instrument, so took up the trombone–what a challenge!
