Eastman - Rochester New Horizons Music
The Birthplace of New Horizons. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Roy Ernst, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY
Where have the years gone? When you are doing something that gives you happiness, the 12 years with my association with the New Horizon Band has been the best thing I could do. I grew up in Mt. Morris, NY, and while living there I played in our High School Band and was picked to go to all county where I learned to play with students from all over the county. Before settling down to marriage and raising 4 children I worked at General Dynamics/Electronics In the Engineering and Contracts Departments. After some years of marriage, I found my flute buried in my closet. It was Christmas time. My family wanted me to play "Far, Far, Away". Always obliging, outside I went to play and had an audience of runners stop to applaud. I knew I had talent then. My husnband and 4 children, along with my 8 grandchildren, have been my biggest supporters. I love to play golf, bridge, swimming, and kayaking. I also find time to volunteer for a not for profit organization by the name of Offsprings Charities. This charity helps support abused women and their families coming out of an abusive relationship.
Have a good day! Johanna Casciano, Flute Player in Symphonic Band
