Bob Hussey: Baritone Horn
I grew up in Medford, Mass. and have a Bachelors Degree in Social Sciences from Boston College. I began playing the clarinet in1943 and switched to tuba in 1950 as I liked the sound. I joined the Mass. National Guard Band in 1951. From 1951-56, I served in the U.S. Army, 399th Army Band in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. I played the tuba, clarinet and alto saxophone.
In 1958, I relocated to Rochester, NY and joined the Irondequoit Community Concert Band in 1982, playing clarinet. In 1989, I joined the Christ the King music ministry playing clarinet and learned to play flute. I suffered a stroke in 2000, and after a brief hiatus, I rejoined the ICB in September. In 2001, I learned to play the baritone, as I could only use my right hand. I joined the New Horizons band and switched to baritone in the ICB.
I am married to Jean (1993) and have two step children and one granddaughter.
