Eastman - Rochester New Horizons Music
The Birthplace of New Horizons. Founded in 1991 by Dr. Roy Ernst, Eastman School of Music, Rochester, NY
I have lived in Irondequoit for most of my entire life. I graduated from Aquinas Institute, Monroe Community College (1st class), and St. John Fisher College. I began and ended my teaching career in the East Rochester School District, teaching high school English for 30 years. I was also an assistant football coach there for most of that time. In 2001 my wife and I joined New Horizons. I had taken drum lessons in the early 1950's, but had been away from it for almost 50 years when I joined the percussion section. The entire experience has been totally enjoyable for the both of us from a musical, social, mental, and physical point of view. We look forward to our "new horizon" morning rehearsals.
In 2008 I returned to coaching football at McQuaid Jesuit HS. We have two sons who teach and coach football there, and I am an assistant on the staff. These activities have turned out to be wonderful and rewarding retirement fun.
